At Sutton and Solihull Hearing Centres, we supply hearing instruments from the leading manufacturers in the world. We are constantly updating our portfolio of technology to make sure we can provide the best that these manufacturers have to offer.
All instruments that we fit go through a rigourous testing process to ensure that they meet the needs of our clients. We work on an evidence based research approach, so the technology we fit will also have to be proven to benefit before we fit it.
Receiver in the Canal (RIC) instruments
Very small units that fit behind the ear, with a very small wire connected to the speaker of the hearing aid which sits in the ear canal. Currently the most popular form of hearing instrument.
In the Ear (ITE) instruments
Custom made instruments that fit inside the ear with nothing behind the ear. Vary in size, can be completely in the canal but also can be half shell or full shell dependant on needs. These models now include the new IIC range, which are completely undetectable to the eye!
Behind the Ear (BTE) instruments
Instruments that sit behind the ear and send the sound through a tube into the ear. Slightly larger than RIC instruments but can suit more severe hearing losses.
Invisible hearing aids
Invisible-in-the-canal (IIC) hearing aids sit far enough in that they cannot be seen by other people. A thin plastic ‘pin’ remains accessible, for you to pull the hidden hearing aid out with.
